December Photo Project: Day 25

"And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us." John 1:14

Christmas is hard when you are hurting.  I woke up this morning wishing that I could somehow hide from the day but knowing that I would only carry the pain with me and so there would be no point to my attempted escape.  

It amazes me that Jesus walked towards pain.  I can easily see how in his divinity, he walked towards the people that would betray him and hurt him.  But what astounds me is that he walked towards the pain in his humanity as well.  He took on flesh, knowing how humiliating it would be.  He took on flesh, knowing about Judas' betrayal.  He took on flesh, knowing Peter's denial.  He took on flesh, knowing that he would be crucified.  His humanity wanted all these things to be removed.  But he chose to walk through what hurt, so that he could deliver us from the eternal suffering that our sins deserve. 

So today, instead of hiding, I think I'll sit with Jesus.  I'll feel my pain, and I'll thank him for his.  He will be life to me today and I hope He will be for you too.

This weekend we went ice skating!  We had such a great time trying to stay on our feet! haha! 

I think I, and every single mom of a small person out there, kept saying "Don't pull me over!" haha!

Good friends blessed us with Chili's gift cards, so after skating, we went for dinner.  So fun!

December Photo Project: Day 20

We have met some of the most amazing people since moving to Milledgeville.  One of those people is the kids' bike coach.  He organized for his office to bless the kids this year.  So amazing.  I'm completely blown away by their generosity.  God has given us grace upon grace.  

We opened all our gifts tonight.  So fun!

So we have Day 18: The girls were busy making treats all day.  Too fun!

We finished up our Nutcracker weekend.  It was so busy and so fun for the girls.  Some of these pictures are courtesy of Katelyn.

December Photo Project: Day 13

We went to the Nutcracker performance last night.  It was so beautiful!  The girls did such a great job and they loved it.  They have two more performances still.  This is Rebecca with her teacher after the dance.  Her teacher is graduating from college and won't be here next semester which is sad because she has been such a blessing to Rebecca.

I was crazy busy all day yesterday, so this truckload of pictures from the dress rehearsal of the Nutcracker will have to suffice for two days.  We are looking forward to enjoying the performance of the Nutcracker tonight! 

December Photo Project: Day 10

Last night was our church's annual Room for a Baby concert.  It's a hometown concert that our community puts on as a fundraiser for the local pregnancy center.  While we are missing our Mbale community and the annual Christmas concert at the Reformation Book Room, we are working to establish and enjoy new traditions here.  We're working to make it home.

I went out biking today and spotted this lovely creature.  She eyed me suspiciously I abruptly stopped so I could watch her and take her picture.

Today was the annual Christmas parade for Milledgeville.  It was a slightly nostalgic time for me that was fun to share with my kids.  Rebecca was on the Nutcracker float with her ballet class.  They are looking forward to this weekend's performances.

Yesterday was a cozy day at home.  We had a lovely time together making some treats to take to the Kappa Delta Sorority girls that live a couple doors down.
